All life began underground. Countless theories filled the lands, tales of giants from the stars, indescribable entities from the unknown, coming to our sphere of life and color to create us. The land folk told tales of how the trees pointed up to the sky, like arrows, how the mountains were like beacons reaching up to the stars, even building their own homes tall so they might one day return to where they belonged. But in reality, the clues to the truth were all around them. Trees may grow upwards, but their roots reached down, towards their source. Whenever you jumped, you fall back down, yes? The force is pulling you. Fossils and bones fall deeper and deeper down into the earth the longer they are there, heading back to their origin at long last. Have you not wondered why the creatures so deep in the sea or ground are so mysterious? It is because they are closer to their source. They are smarter than you. All life began underground, yes. Caves reached lovingly down into the world’s core, streams-

bubbling through them, creatures untouched by the world living happily. And yet, here you are. You’re standing in front of me now, adventurer, are you not? You came all the way down to the core for a reason. Your reflection in the crystals reminds you that, does it not? You can hear the music ringing in your ears. It calms you. Do not try to deny it. It is merely the cave singing to you, telling you it’s secrets. I know you can feel the power radiating through your bones. This time, it is different. It is no longer faint, coming up from the ground and slowly passing through you. It is right in front of you, washing straight into you like a wave. You are stronger than you were before. Each crystal in this cave holds a power, as I’m sure you know. Yes, your thoughts were right. You may take any. Any one, that is. You may only choose one, but at any time you may come back to return it. Now then, adventurer. Will you turn around empty handed? Or do you have other plans?
