LinkI'll just
copy and paste as I go along
You are Vanilla, a peasant living in a small village in the kingdom of Larion. You have a pitchfork and nothing else. You dream of getting out of your village and having an adventure. You go to your fields and begin working. You look up and see a dark cloud in the distance. Lightning strikes and you are hit by the thunder. You collapse into unconsciousness.
When you wake up, you're in a whole other world. Everything is so amazing and beautiful here.
"Where am I..?" You look around.
"You're in my castle, m'lady." A strange man appears. You don't know who or what to make of him. He has fair skin and long blonde hair.
"Your castle? But why?"
"You were in a lightning strike, m'lady. I found you when I was out hunting."
"Hunting? But I'm in the middle of working my fields.
I'm sorry, but something isn't right here..."
He doesn't seem to listen to you, and walks away. You try to call out to him, but no sound comes out.
"What's happening to my voice?!" You think. "I need to get out of here!"
Then, it dawns on you. You are in trouble. Your village is far away from the other side of the kingdom.
"What happened to me..." You tried to say.
It's useless. You can't talk. You can't do anything. You start to feel scared, and you feel like you want to cry, but no tears come.
You close your eyes and wait for someone or something to help you.
The next day, in the middle of the night, a strange man in a hooded robe enters your room.
"No..?" You try to answer, though your voice still won't work.
"I'm not surprised. I gave you something to make you fall asleep. It must be really hurting you, because you're having a hard time talking." He starts to walk towards you.
"Stay away!"
You try to tell him to get away from you, but he can't hear you. He reaches his hand out to touch your face, but he stops.
You look at him confused and worried. He turns away from you and gives a small laugh.
"Ah, yes... I see now."
You're shocked but you go along with whatever he's doing.
He pulls you into a sitting position. You're still not allowed to talk.
"I need to get the black spot off of you." He whispers to you, and then opens your mouth really wide.
"!" You jerk your head away.
You can't talk, but you can still see and hear what's happening. He puts his finger in your mouth, and then in his other hand he holds up a white, wiggling creature with red spots.
You're scared and confused, and you shut your eyes tight. You don't want to see whatever this is.
Then, he touches his finger to your eye.
You scream in pain. It burns so bad, you feel like your whole eye is on fire!
You push the man away. He falls backwards, but doesn't get up. You quickly try to find the door, hoping you can escape.
You look around and see that your room has been changed.
"What the hell..." You think.
You notice a small key on the ground. You pick it up, and try to open the door.
It won't budge. You bang on the door desperately, but it won't give.
"God damnit!" You shout in anger. You look at the man who's lying on the floor. You need to get out of here.
Then, you notice something written on the floor. It's a clue.
"Hmm..." You bend down to get a closer look at the writing.
It reads:
If you're reading this, then something went wrong. I can't be sure of anything, but it's more likely that you're dead than still being alive.
A wave of even more confusion hits you like that time you got hit by your dad for not doing the dishes. You stand up and wobble a bit you're feeling unwell after reading that.
"What does it mean?" You ask yourself.
It could mean anything. The man might've poisoned you or something. You look around and notice that all the other people in the room are bodies on the floor.
"Oh my God..." You feel as though you're about to vomit. Tears fill your eyes and you try to look away, but you're fascinated by the morbid sight in front of you.
This must be a dream. A nightmare. It makes the most sense. The only way you can survive something like this is if you're dreaming. If you're dreaming, you can do whatever you want.
Your thoughts are extremely hazy, but you try to think. You think you could be dead. Either poisoned or struck by lightning, and this was your afterlife or something. Or, you were in a horrid dream. A bad dream in which case, you would definitely wake up.
You take a deep breath and try to steady your thoughts. You walk to the door and feel the lock.
"What am I doing?"
> You sit on the floor and hand your head. Tears started streaming down your face.
You sit on the floor and cry. Your tears begin to pool around you.
"Why am I so weak?" You think. "I should be strong. No one can hurt me."
> You you're tired and decide to just wait for someone to show up.
You sit in the room filled with bodies, waiting for something. Anyone. It's so quiet you can hear the slow patter of your tears hitting the floor. Your eyes feel heavy and you rest them.
You decide to go to sleep. Maybe in your dreams you can do something. Anything.
You wake up hours later. You stand and look around. It's dark, but the moonlight streams through the windows illuminating the entire room.
> You see the bodies.
You walk to the bodies and stare at them. You're disgusted by the sight. Blood stains cover their faces and clothes. Most of them are still holding swords.
One in particular catches your eye.
You don't know what it is. Maybe it was just your confused and anxiety ridden state, but you couldn't stop staring at one of the bodies.
It's staring back.
Its eyes are empty, but they're still staring at you. You feel a chill run down your spine. Your whole body trembles and you break eye contact with it.
"I'm gonna loose my mind in here." You think as you sit in front of the door.
"Why am I here?" You think. "What's going to happen to me?"
You hear the door open behind you.
"Vani-" You hear a whispery voice say.
"Who are you..?" You try to say, forgetting that you can't speak.
The ghost walks towards you. It's still mostly invisible, but you can make out some of the details. It's a woman, probably around your age. She has long brown hair and... blue eyes?
"Hello..." She says, staring at you.
"Why am I here?" You repeat, scared.
The woman sighs and looks at you, standing up.
"Do you remember my name?
"No," you say shakily, backing away from her. "Not at all."
The woman approaches you slowly. She looks at you, as if trying to see through you to the truth. She reaches out for your face, but you flinch and back away.
"No! Stay away!"
Of course, that does nothing as again you can't speak.
"Do you want to play a game?" She says.
You stare at her, waiting for her to continue.
After she stays quiet, you nod.
"Well... do you remember my name?"
Again, you nod.
"Alright, do you feel... love for me?"
You nod slowly, not quite sure you're on her page.
"Where is this going?" You think.
The woman chuckles, a dark and creepy sound.
"I see... good. Now, do you feel fear?"
You nod quickly, wanting this to end.
The woman caressed your cheek. You flinched and recoiled.
"Good. Now, tell me, did you miss me?"
"Y-Yes." You blurt out.
"How much?"
"A lot."
The ghost chuckled.
"I missed you too, Vani." She says.
She leans in to kiss you. You freeze up, not knowing what to do.
You hesitantly kiss the ghost back. She hugs you tightly, putting your arms around her.
"I've missed this." She whispers in to your ear.
You try to move away from her, but she won't let go.
You shake your head violently. You don't know if you want to love this woman again. Not after what she said... but... the way she made you feel before? That was nice.
The ghost begins to glow faintly. She winks at you, giving you a ghost of a smile. You notice how beautiful she still is.
You were surprised that the woman could hear you speak. "You... You still look beautiful," you admit.
The ghost smiles. "You don't need to say anything else."
She leans in to kiss you. This time, you don't hesitate.
> You kiss the ghost back.
You kiss the ghost back. You're starting to regret it, but you're hooked now.
The ghost pulls away from you with a smile. "Goodnight, Vani."
She disappears into the air.
". . ." You start tearing up. Having that bit of attention made you even lonelier. Your parents are never going to love you back. The other kids will make fun of you.
Even the girl at the party wanted nothing to do with you. You're going to die alone.
Feeling tired and useless you lie on the floor and try to sleep. You drift off into a fitful sleep.
In the morning you're woken up by a huge ruckus. You look up to see a bunch of people wearing black cloaks.
"W-who are you?" You say, hoping they can hear you.
"Who are you, thief?" One of them asks back.
"V-vampire." You reply.
They let out a burst of laughter.
"I mean, Vanilla. Sorry about that. And I'm no thief."
They continue laughing.
"Actually, we'll make a liar out of you." One says.
They bind your hands together with rope and force you to your feet.
You start to tremble. "What's going on..?" I just want to know where I am..."
They march you into the center of the room, and force you to your knees.
You're surrounded by bodies. "Please tell me what's happened to me!"
The men just continue to laugh as they bind your arms to your sides. You try to struggle, but it's no use.
"Tell us your name, little one." One of the cloaked figures says.
"I already have... My name is Vanilla."
They burst out laughing.
"No, that's a girl's name." One says.
"Well, I'm a girl."
They continue to laugh at you. Eventually they stop and begin questioning you.
You barley heard their questions. You were lost in thought.
"She's a virgin." One of them says, bursting your bubble.
"That's impossible. Vampires are seducers of young girls. How could she be a virgin?" Another says.
"What does it matter if I've never ****ed anyone before?" You say, annoyed.
They burst out laughing again.
"I don't know what's happening and I need someone to tell me..." You say.
The leader walks in front of you, blocking the view of the others. "Tell us, do you have a boyfriend?"
You blush. "N-no..."
You struggle against the ropes. "Let me go!"
"Is that true, Vani?"
"Yes!" You say, annoyed.
They begin laughing again.
Your face turns red and tears form in your eyes.
"Ha! She said yes! I'm in love, dammit! I need my girlfriend!" One of them says.
They continue laughing as they walk out of the room.
"What the **** is going on?!" You shout.
Soon, the room goes quiet. The leader steps in front of you.
You start shaking more than before. "Please, can you tell me what's happening?"
He stares at you.
"Why won't you talk? Why do you have to know if I'm dating a man?! Or if I'm a virgin?!"
He sighs and looks away. "You're a very interesting girl, Vani."
"Why is that? Do you know me? I don't think we've ever met."
He puts his hand on your shoulder, and ignores what you said. "And a pretty one too."
You look down, annoyed. "Y-you can drop the flirt, mister..."
He chuckles. "Sebastian."
"Sebastian what?
"Sebastian Lockvern."
"Oh. So, what's with all the questions?"
"Just curious. So, do you have a boyfriend?"
"No."
"Have you ever kissed a boy?"
"No. Why are you so interested in my love life?"
"Because there's a 50/50 chance that you just got yourself a soulmate, Vani."
"What? No! I don't even know you!
"Oh well. You never know." You can hear the smile in his voice.
You blush and look to the side. "You're pretty forward, you know that?"
"Oh, you haven't seen anything yet, Vani."
"Can you stop calling me that? My name is Vanilla."
He chuckles.
"Hmph." Your cheeks start to turn red. "... Maybe I'll date you. If you do me a favor first."
"What?"
"Can you please tell me what's going on? And how I can get out of here?"
Sebastian nods slowly. "I'll be happy to, Vani."
He whispers in your ear.
"Your soulmate is a vampire."
You don't say anything. Sebastian stares at you intently, waiting for you to ask him why he thinks that.
"...I don't believe in soulmates, anyway." You mutter, breaking eye contact.
He grabs your wrist gently. "Don't worry so much, Vani."
You wince as he kisses the back of your hand.
"Okay..." You pull your hand away. "But, if you don't know why I think that, how do you know?"
"I just know." He smiles.
You sigh in annoyance. "Well, tell me why then. It can't hurt to know."
"Well... It's complicated." He begins to nervously twiddle his fingers. "But, it's a long story..."
"We've got all night."
"I guess this is the part where I ask you out." He exhales.
"Well, do it then!" You smile.
He chuckles. "Okay... I'd love to take you out."
"Really?" You furrow your eyebrows.
"Yeah, really. I want to know more about you. When can I pick you up?"
"
Well, seems like you've already got me here." You frowned.
"Yes. I know." He smiles once more.
Sebastian stands up, and offers you his hand. You grab it, and he lifts you up to sit.
"Now please get me out of here. There's bodies are starting to stink..."
He chuckles. "I love when you say things like that." He grabs your hand.
The room seems to speed up as time goes on. Soon, you find yourself outside of the castle. You're standing on the moonlit stone courtyard. The sky is beautiful.
"Sebastian..." You look at him. "Why me?"
"I don't know." He shrugs.
"We're only just met. I don't love you..." You state.
"I don't love you either." He smiles. "Yet." He leans in and whispers in your ear. His lips brush against your ear. The feeling sent a shiver down your spine.
"S-Sebastian..." You push him away. You stare at him, as he stares at you. "What do you mean?"
"I'll see you soon, Vani." He winks, and walks towards the stone steps that lead into the castle.
You sit on the ground and just... Sob.
"Oh, Vani." Sebastian sits next to you. "I think I made a big impression on you tonight."
"Y-You did..." You can't help but smile.
Your smile fades. "But I really don't love you."
"Perhaps not yet." He shrugs. "But I'll wait."
You sigh, and wipe your eyes. "Bye, Sebastian."
"Bye, Vani. Thanks for the company tonight."
"Yeah, yeah. No problem. But you sort of forced me... Oh well."
Sebastian puts his arm around your shoulders and draws you in for a kiss.
You panic internally, but you decided to try it. You also leaned into the kiss.
As soon as your lips touch, a shock runs through your body. Your skin prickles and all your senses become heightened. Your heart beats faster.
Since it was a soft kiss, you could pull away whenever. You turned your head, flustered as can be.
"See you later, Vani." He winks, and is gone.
You stand up and stare at the castle. You stare at the gargoyles adorning it, thinking about Sebastian.
> You wonder where he disappeared to. You barely know him, but you're starting to become attached. He did get you out of that room...
You think about Sebastian as you watch the gargoyles for what feels like the millionth time. It's really more like the 100th by now, but whatever.
Eventually, you're approached by a ghost.
It was Yvette again.
"Vani." She greeted, standing near you. "I don't know how you did it, but somehow, you got Sebastian out of his room. I can't thank you enough.
> You say "How do you know Sebastian?"
"He's my..." She stops herself. "He's my boyfriend. We're both souls that are trapped here."
She giggles a bit.
"Am... Am I dead too?" You ask.
"Yes." She nods, then frowns. "Although, I don't think... I don't think I killed myself, or was killed by Sebastian."
"I-I guess it was the lighting..." You wipe some tears from your eyes. "You're still here with him then?"
"With Sebastian? No." She shakes her head.
"Oh thank God!" You shout, not realizing you were saying it. "You're his..."
"We're not quite souls mates." Yvette smiles. "But we'll always be close. He's the only person I've ever loved. I can't bear to even lose him."
"Oh, so you didn't love me?" You ask, a bit offended.
"Oh no! I did!" She says, holding onto her chest.
"Mhm... Where did Sebastian even go?"
"Who knows? He said he went to get us drinks, but I don't see that he has come back."
"I guess we'll have to go find out...
Maybe he's in the castle." You stand up and start walking towards the entrance of the large building.
"Wait, where are you going?" Yvette asks. "I don't think that's a good idea.
"I'm going inside! We have to find Sebastian!" You snap, pushing past Yvette.
"Vani, please! I know you're upset, but we should wait a little longer.
> You search the castle for Sebastian.
You keep walking. You're looking for Sebastian, and you don't care what the consequences are. You hear footsteps following you, but you don't bother to look back. Eventually, the footsteps stop.
You turn around to see Sebastian following you. He reaches out his hand to stop you.
"Vani..." He says, before grabbing your hand and disappearing with you.
You find yourself in a dark room.
You immediately panic. You're afraid of the dark. When you're with Sebastian, it's always light outside.
But now, you're in the dark. You have no idea where you are.
You cling to Sebastian for safety. You don't care how much you trust him, you're scared and he's the only other person with you.
"Sebastian?" You ask, not realizing how quiet you've been.
"Yes?" He asks, grabbing your hand.
"Where are we?"
"My room.
"I can't see a thing... Why so dark? It's nighttime, does moonlight hurt you too?"
"The sun hurts me, but I can handle the light during the day. It's when it's dark and I have to sleep that I'm..." He stops himself.
You hear a chuckle.
"Are you alright?" You ask.
"I'm sorry, Vani. I get a bit emotional sometimes. Let's continue this tomorrow, I need sleep."
"Sure." You say.
You stand up to leave.
Sebastian goes quiet for a moment, then reaches out and grabs you hand. "Please, don't go."
"Sebastian..."
"No, hear me out. Be with me, rather than against me. Be my... Wife."
Your heart flutters.
"Your what?! No, I will not be your wife!" You exclaim, starting to pull your hand away.
"You'll be my wife, or I will hurt you very very badly. I will break you. You will be in so much pain that you wish you were dead. Do you understand?"
"I already am dead, apparently! Threats don't scare me!"
"Threats don't scare you? Have you forgotten who you're talking to?" Sebastian grabs your throat, and you feel your knees go weak.
"I-I... Stop..." You found this arousing. Why? You didn't know, but the way he was looking at you, and the way his hands were holding you, made you feel... Good. So good in fact that you didn't mind it at all.
"Sebastian, I'll be your girlfriend, can we wait a while before marriage..?" You ask, trying to calm him down.
"No. I want you to be my wife." He says in a low growl.
"I can't be your wife.
Please, I'll be your wife but this is all going too fast."
"As you wish, but know this. I'm not going to lose you the way your mother lost your father. I'm going to make sure we're together for all eternity."
"Yes sir..." You liked his hand on your neck, but you still wanted him to let go.
"Now, we need to make plans. I want you to come with me, so I can properly protect you. We can go live at my home in the city, or go some place secluded together."
"Not the city. The city is disgusting and crowded."
"We can live at my parents' home in the country. It's very secluded, with a small village and a huge manor. You'll like it there.
"Okay." You decided it was best not to put up a fight anymore. He was obviously in a more aggressive mood tonight.
"Good. I'll take you there now. Pick out a few things to take, and get them packed. The pair of us can leave as soon as possible."
"I don't have any belonging except for my clothes, the locket I'm wearing, and a flask in my pocket." You tell him.
"Well we'll get you a few more things before we go. We need to get going right now, the less time you're exposed to light, the better."
"Okay." You thought it was strange how he was keeping you out of the sun. Maybe he was planning on killing you after he got you to the house?
After getting dressed into something a little warmer, you follow Sebastian outside to his carriage.
You got into the carriage and tried to calm your nerves. Sebastian soon left the direction to head towards the city.
As you were moving, you realized you didn't have any idea where the hell Sebastian lived.
"Oh well." You thought as you looked out the side of the carriage. "Maybe he'll tell me on the way."
Soon, you were in a residential area of the city.
"Damn it. He lied to me!" You suddenly thought. "He said we'd be going to the country, but we're just rolling through a residential area."
"Hey Sebastian? Why are we going in this direction?
"O-oh, erm..." Sebastian began to fumble with his words. "I erm, just erred on the side of caution. You seemed a little tired earlier, so I thought it would be best if we went slow.
"Sebastian, I really don't like the city..." You whined. "I thought we were going to your country home."
"We are, just a little while longer. I promise." He says in a reassuring manner.
"Hmph. I wish you'd have gone straight there." You say.
"Sorry."
After a few minutes, you begin to notice that the houses are getting smaller and smaller.
You're tired, and you start to doze off a little.
"Hey!" You suddenly hear Sebastian yell. "I told you to stay awake!"
"I'm sorry, I won't fall asleep again..." You say yawning as you stretch.
"Uh huh." Sebastian says unamused.
"Seriously. I didn't mean to."
"Uh huh."
Soon, you begin to notice the village changing. The people look poorer, and they look depressed.
"I know some of those people." You say in shock. "And none of them are working and look all broke. I wonder what's happened to cause this..."
You cross your arms and state at your feet. You feel like you're in the middle of a refugee crisis.
"Look, keep your eyes on the road." Sebastian snaps.
"I- Fine." You look back out the side of the carriage.
You watch as the people walking around the village begin to notice you. They don't seem pleased by your presence.
A lot of them are staring with malice.
"Hey, Sebastian? Why do all of these people look so upset with me?"
"Erm, sorry about that. Some of these people may have some problems with you." Sebastian answers.
"Like what? What did I do?" You ask.
"Like I said, some of these people have some problems with you."
"Why? I don't remember any feuds with them. I didn't even know there were any in this village."
"Heh, well some of these people don't like you because you're rich and you took their land without paying for it.
"I did what?! Sebastian, I haven't been here more than four days!"
"Sorry, but I don't think you'll be able to do anything about it anyway."
Suddenly, a mob of angry villagers surrounded the carriage.
"Gah!" You duck down.
You could hear the crowd, and you looked up to see them ripping apart some poor merchant, beating him to death with clubs, and throwing his dismembered body at your carriage.
"Holy shit! Sebastian, what's going on?!" You say ducking back down.
"It's okay, it's okay!" Sebastian assures you. "These people don't like you. I can't do anything about it.
"Well I can't either!" You yell. "I'm stuck here!"
You hear Sebastian laugh in your ear.
Tears start streaming down your face. "Don't mock me!" You yell.
"I'm sorry! It's just so pointless!
"Stop it! Get me out of here! I hate you!" You cry.
"Well I hate you too, but it doesn't change anything."
, you hear the carriage driver's voice.
You look towards the front of the carriage. The driver sits there, reading a book.
"Hey, what's wrong with you two? Sebastian, tell her not to make such a scene.
You hug Sebastian tightly. "I want this all to stop... I'm so confused!"
"It's not my fault." Sebastian says. "You could have avoided all of this if you just listened to me from the beginning."
You continue to sob.
"I did listen to you! I did, I did! I became your girlfriend, I came here with you, and we're to be married soon! What have
I done wrong?!"
Sebastian remains silent.
You hugged Sebastian tightly. You didn't care if Sebastian gave a shit about you. You wanted to be close to someone who cares.
"Why are you doing this to me?" You cry, breaking down.
"I'm sorry." Sebastian says quietly.
"Why am I being harassed... Is this hell?" You say.
"No, this is a different kind of hell. This is what happens when you defy the natural order of things."
You turn to look at Sebastian. His eyes are blank and cold.
"I don't know what I did..." You say in a low voice. "But I'm so sorry... I didn't mean to..."
"Stop saying you're sorry. Nobody is forcing you to stay here." Sebastian says.
". . ." You just sit there, shaking your head.
Sebastian rolls his eyes.
"I hate you so goddamn much but I don't want to leave you." You say.
"I don't want to leave you either." Sebastian replies, a hint of pain in his voice.
You sniffle and wipe your nose.
The villagers gave up on the attack. They have either ran away or gathered back around their campfires. A few look in your direction, but don't do anything. This gives you a little comfort.
The sun has finally set.
"Sebastian... I'm tired." You say.
"Me too."
You both stare at the fading sun.
