His name's Teancum. It's a weird name but it stuck.

It's a long story but the short version is that a certain Deity (God) wanted a new body to put his cursed adopted son into. The transfer happened at the exact same moment he was transforming into his canine form and the overlapping forces were enough to kill him and reanimate him a few moments later.
