id like to tell you about my differences when i draw sirens and merpeople as you can see with Rairiko shes more fishy than this mermaid, merpeople don't have fins like her nor are they as strong as a siren. (they also have more fish scales, protection purposes.) mers are omnivorous, sirens are carnivores. mers also look more fish in the tail (as in it will look like a certain species of fish.) the skin also comes in many colours (sirens are more grays and whites) yes the mer is gray but purple is mixed in so its not a pure gray. mers do have fins on their back but thats bc they need to swim around to get places. i hope that makes sense im half asleep

btw i think sirens where breed to protect the merfolk so if Rairiko sees a mermaid(or man ofc) despite hating them like a lot, she will swim around them and keep them safe. its an instinct thing ig.
