It depends of the things they deal with in daily
It maybe due to abuse at home, so they burst out all of their anger at others and don't realize they hurt them afterwards
Maybe from taking drugs (yes smoking counts in this one) or alcohol, which they might cause them to have anger burst and do this to others
It also may be from their parents treating them like this, so if they think they should treat people like this, it's becoming normal for them
There might be many reasons, especially for their POVs since you don't know what they're going through
I feel like I'm also so out of the question since I have no idea what's happening rn 💀
Honestly whatever they reason they have its never supposed to be used as an excuse in the first place, it's their own fault for hurting others. Not only that, most of them know what they are doing
I also agree with you for the last statement, it's mainly the fact the kid havent't been affected to act like their apparent due to being aware of it
