I walked through the dense undergrowth, pausing to push aside a tangle of branches. I overlooked a beautiful clearing. I had no time to recognize it's beauty, nor acknowledge the bees and birds that swarmed around the lush green grass and the Koi that swam happily in the pond nearby. A crashing sound came from behind me. I sprinted out of the remaining bushes and darted behind a juniper bush. My pursuer was on my tail. I pulled out my pocket knife, breathing heavily. I hid behind the bushes in wait.

Suddenly, a small, cat-like creature burst out of the bushes where I had been standing not to long ago. It was a breathtaking creature, with bat-like ears and a plumy blue tail. A pair of wings that looked too small to fly with. But, what was most beautiful about this creature was it's pelt. It was a deep indigo color, like the depths of the ocean. Golden circular patterns that blazed as if they had come from Ra, the sun god himself. I looked at it, sketching it in my memory. The creature stood, defiant, in the middle of the clearing. She knew of many animals larger than it, able to devour it in a few bites.

The few birds and bees stopped what they were doing and immediately darted over to the creature and bowed before it. The creature raised it's head and spread it's wings. Many creatures emerged from the forest to bow before the beautiful creature. Bears and squirrels and foxes alike knelt before it. The creature bared it's teeth in a grin and spread it's wings. I watched as it took to the sky, it's speed dwarfing that of any birds or bees I had ever seen. I stumbed back, racing away before it discovered me there and killed me. She could tell that it would be able to easily.
