one day, Vera woke up with an intense pain in multiple places, having noticed this, the oldest brother rushed her to their father, who took them to the hospital. after the doctors checked on her, they asked who the mother was. the father gave them her name, but the doctors said "no her species." The father froze at this question, finally realizing what was happening to Vera.

a few weeks later the mother was allowed to visit. Rushing in the hospital nearly in tears of happiness she opened the door to Vera's hospital room. Almost instantly, the joy she felt turned into disgust. Vera's hair had changed from the innocent white to a jet black' her snow white wings now had a grayish tint, her face and legs had red splotches on them giving her dark colored eyes, but what scared the mother the most, was the two black and red horns on her head.

from then on the mother was more distant to Vera. Vera didn't know what happened to her or what she did to deserve her mothers neglect at 7 years old, but she would soon find out. a few months after that incident, Vera heard her father shouting. when she got down stairs she saw her brothers trying to break up the fight between the mother and the father. in doing so, one of the brothers was thrown against a table, knocking him unconscious. "That MISTAKE shouldn't be in this family." the mother shouted at the father. at that moment, all was silent. "don't you dare call our daughter a MISTAKE." the father shouted, hitting the mother to the ground. Vera let out a scream of horror as she watched those events unfold. "PLEASE STOP FIGHTING!" she shouted, in tears as she rushed to her unconscious brother. "this is all my fault.." she muttered as her brother bled out on the floor. the oldest brother helped mom up " it's not your fault.." he said, carrying the mother to her bedroom.
