or stop others from making multiple accounts, which is understandable. But why completely make the site unable to gain new users? Because it'll stop trolls AND new users (and normal users) from making a account

Yeah. Then, I'd suggest having to register using an email, but I don't think FA wanted to have hundreds of people's emails stored in the database or wherever it would be (idk website stuff) and I don't think very many would want to register using their email to a potentially sketchy website

There was definitely a better solution to that, such as account linking/recognition (stops ppl from making alt accs by recognizing their device, address, etc. although this might create some new terms)
