i dont know if anyone has heard of this, but he has a sub/little headspace.
its like you become more childish and it blocks out the rest of the world, so most people like having a sub space. but his mother was abusive about it so he ran away and now he has to deal with it on his own.
a caretaking figure can often be a boyfriend or girlfriend, for these types of people.
but he lonely so he has no one to look after him, so he really struggles.
He can be just like a normal person, but its easy to slip into the headspace. some triggers for the headspace are stress, boredom, and being called words like "baby" "cute" and things along those lines.
he's also just shy in general.
