Though generally I don't think your kind of shading is appealing.

I also notice that people don't like bright shading either, so I don't really know how to improve, sorry
I think their shading adds a lot of personality to their art style. It adds a cool kind of texture. You're probably wanting hyper-realistic shading. You see, bean's shading is part of their art style and that's one thing I found attractive (in the art).
How do you do the dark colors? I tried with dark grey, but it makes the color lighter. Thanks :3
