There’s a lot of talk about following your dreams out there. Finding a passion and turning it into your whole life. For a few years I thought animation would be my whole life. I tried to improve my art, and I tried to be good enough for art college admissions, and I was accepted into a prestigious art school. But I started to hate my art. It was never good enough. I needed to be better. Was my art really worth money, and could I really get a job in such a competitive field? Art became a chore. Yes, I enjoyed making art and I knew a lot about it. But i could no longer imagine a life tied to insecurity. I no longer want to be an artist. I go to a different college and I’m in a completely different major. Hey. It’s okay for art to just be your hobby. You don’t have to follow a creative ideal. The safe option that makes you feel better is okay. I like my art again.
