FAQ: Q: Can I draw Archaes feral posed? A: You can but I cannot stress just how much I'd prefer you didn't. It makes my very uncomfortable but I won't hound you for it. Archaes are a sentient race, it's honestly disrespectful to draw them like that unless it's under the context of a speculative evolutionary ancestor.

Q: Are Archaes a furry species? Like Protogens? A: They were not designed to be a furry species, but I don't mind if you use them like they are furries, with fursuits and things, just please don't call them a furry race, anthro race is fine. Back when I first created them, 'furry' was heavily used as an insult, so it makes me uncomfortable when it's used with them. If we want to get technical, they're actually an alien race. Like Sangheili.

Q: What is Arcane? A: Arcane is a form of magic that draws from their afterlife, Hjrell, using their Soul Orbs as a conduit. Their Soul Orbs often depict an Archae's comfort or desire, almost always being a location, with the archaes colors imposed upon the location, and due to such, their Arcane also ends up the color of their orb. Arcane is expanded on in the Archae info page under abilities.

Q:Are Soul Orbs physical objects? A:Yes and no, at a default state, it resides in Hjrell, and are not physical objects on the mortal plane of existence. However, it can be summoned by an archae reaching into their own chest (there are some extremely rare and terrifying cases of an archae being able to summon the orb of another archae by reaching into the other archae's chest), in which they can retrieve the Soul Orb and it becomes a physical object in the mortal plane of existence. It can be held, or shattered. In the case of the latter, an archae will die with it, their soul called back to Hrell.

Like everyone else

Yep, that's where the different breeds; Excalibur, Enigma, Quillion, and Aureus come from. Excalibur- Snow and cold oriented, possessing especially powerful noses capable of sniff out food, whether that's plant or prey, beneath the snow. Their large eyelashes and narrow eyes allow them to see during snow storms. Aureus- A general all-rounder, not particularly fantastic at everything, but serviceable in most things. Not evolved for any niche purpose, but can do alright in most scenarios. Enigma- Small and fast, possessing the best flight abilities of all the breeds. It likely hunted in packs in its primitive years, lending itself well to hit and run tactics. A large group could probably overrun a beast 50x their size with these tactics. They fair best in moderate temperatures, not doing particularly great in heat or snow, which is fine for the moderate continent they're from.

Quillion- With their extremely short fur and well developed respiratory tracts, they thrive well in hot, humid environments. Their skin produces a chemical that archae noses and most sentient races can't detect, and works as a natural bug deterent. Keeping away diseases, viruses, parasites, anything they couldn't physically fend off with their hands like an animal. Though, they're still vulnerable to airborne and ingested afflictions, just not stuff that'd they'd normally get from physical contact.

Anything is edible, atleast once.

Development wise, they're more 2500 human, like, Halo style advanced. And they have both a religious and scientific mindset. Their religion doesn't interfere with science, and their religion is Panthiestic, supporting other religions, and whole-heartedly supports partaking in other religions while also participating in the Archae 'religion', however it's hardly a religion as their gods are dead, thr archaes themselves living as their own demigods with their Arcane. However, they teach their religion (more of a mythos) as history. This generally doesn't cause problems because it's inoffensive and supportive of other religions as well.

You can of course use your own lore for them instead to better fit! But I'm happy you're using mine or atleast incorporating some of it!
