Alright, so this is more vent-ish and sort of my own personal opinion on how contests on this site, so please don't beat my ass over this.

It just feels like most contests here are more for the person hosting them than for the people participating. The challenge I hosted last week was a little bit for me, just because I think propaganda looks cool, but I also at least wanted to make it so that people could draw what they wanted and how they wanted it.

Most of the contests on this site however are mostly just drawing the host's OC.

Like seriously, do you really think YOUR OC is so good that other people should be drawing it? I know my own OC "The Premier," isn't.

On a side note, I do think the Premier is more drawable than most other OC's (aside from furry OC's, despite my distrust of furries). Most human OC's that I see people hosting contests for aren't all that distinct. The original drawings they have aren't that great most of the time, and so it's not like their OC has much of a base anyway. I won't lie though, some OC's are really good and people should be proud of them.

Anyway, what I'm saying is, if you're doing a contest, don't make people just draw something or someone you made as if what you made is even that good.

So how should contests be instead? Well, there are actually some decent ones out there. The best ones are the ones where there's a theme. For example, I saw one recently that's simply dragons. That's broad, and it gives people a lot of freedom to do what they want with it.

There was one contest where the theme was spring/summer. This was also broad and also gave lots of freedom.

There are contests where you have to create your OWN OC, and those are amazing. Creating a good character is definitely a good challenge, even more so creating one that stands out!

But yeah, contest should let people expand their horizons. Contests can be made for the hosts, but they should be just as much, if not more, for the participants and their creativity.

Contests or the image? because looking at it now he's actually looking decent.

Those are some of the better ones I've seen. The human one has it's own unique style, and the non-human shows what its deal is through its traits (such as those sickle-looking arm extentions). They both look like interesting characters with their own thing going on just by looking at them.

That's not bad actually, you seem good. Using one's own OC in a particular environment most people are familiar with is definitely good.

Also you deserve a feature, it seems we're close in follower and like count, and you make actual quality work consistently. Here, have my follow.

That's a good idea

I don't get mad but I do get pissed. I'm both patient and short-tempered. I get annoyed at a lot of things, but I'm able to tolerate it for a while.
