"This is the hardest test I can give you. If you succeed then I think you really will be able to take on anyone." The wolf explained, handing a dagger to the rabbit. She took it without hesitation and understood what he meant. "I don't think I have to tell you what the test is." He immediately initiated the fight, clawing at the rabbit. She hopped back and quickly sprinted around him, managing to pin him to the ground. She rose the dagger up but something stopped her from digging it into the wolf's head. There were no objections from the wolf; perhaps he wanted to test her morality, not her physical strength. She trembled and let go of the dagger, the loud sound of the metal hitting the hard floor scared her. 'Why am I hestitant now?... It's never been like this.' But deep down she knew why. She had grown attached to the wolf. But she could never tell him this.

"... I failed." The rabbit announced, ending her own test. She tried to stand but she collasped on her side. The fear that embraced her left her with no mental energy. The wolf sat up, seeing the rabbit lying on the floor. "Why couldn't you do it? You know this means you aren't strong mentally either." "I am-!" The rabbit interjected. "T-there was something wrong." She attempted to justify why she couldn't kill him. "The butterflies were in my eyes, I couldn't aim." "You don't have to aim to stab someone." The wolf dismissed her excuse. "You're weak mentally. So the deal's off-" Before he could finish, the rabbit had snatched the dagger off the floor. She grabbed the wolf by the neck and tried to reel up. Despite her effort, the emotions took over her body. The dagger fell again and the rabbit embraced the wolf with a hug. "I'm sorry..." An apology was much unlike her, or at least who she wanted to be. She was sweet-hearted as much as her mind tried to ignore it.

What surprised the rabbit most was when the wolf returned her frail attempt of a hug. "I don't blame you. You're a rabbit after all trying to be a wolf at heart. But you're not a wolf at heart, you're a rabbit. You can't change that. I won't blame you if you give up; it's really your only option." She cried into his chest. "What would my family think of me if I can't avenge them...?!" The wolf comforted her with a pat on the back. "They would be happy you stayed the way you were. You're a sweet girl, not an evil one." Her anger rose and she used her flat teeth to bite his shoulder. He jolted and pushed her off of him. "I can be a wolf! Even if I'm only pretending the entire time!" The rabbit yelled. "..." The wolf smirked. "You're doing a bad job at it."

The rabbit snarled at herself. Was she going to let her feelings for him take over and end up disappointing him, or would she accept that she'll never even be friends with him in her pursuit of revenge? If only she could think of a compromise that let them both live. A relationship between a rabbit and a wolf is a foolish thought. Perhaps she wanted to be like a wolf so that thought wouldn't be as silly. She could fit in; It's all she wants. The butterflies couldn't replace her loneliness like another person could.
