Not for me, they usually get in the way of the drawing. I only use them for the head and face, the body I just freehand
if i took this site super serious i would use one frame for construction, do a couple of warmup sketches, and then do the main lineart
I usually do whatever sketch I have and the lineart = coloring in the same layer, then I have a background one and if I need to do a speech bubble a third one for the words
