I will be using adult terms to refer to adult subjects in this topic, just a warning before you read. I will be explaining these terms so I can make my case. Every new comment will be a paragraph from said paper.

The term “femboy” and many others has been used since the 1990’s, it was originally used to describe feminine men, usually in both non-sexual and sexual context. Now, it’s mostly used in a derogatory manor and should not be used casually due to the impact the terms and the meaning behind them.

Around 2013, the term surfaced on PornHub as a search category for a form of adult entertainment. In the same context of pornography, it’s now usually used against transgender women, such as “trap”, “tr*nny”, “She-male”, and much more. Femboy is usually used in a fetishizing way, but it is usually said to or about transgender women. When referring to a trans woman as such, you are misgendering her and invalidating her identity.

Cisgender men are seen to have more of an attraction to trans people in a fetishistic way, usually viewing transgender people or transgender identities for their body and that alone. There have been surveys where an author of an article would ask transgender people if they have had any experience with being fetishized in such a manor, and what their experience was or how they felt about it. According to springer.com, in their article “Being Talked to Like I Was a Sex Toy, Like Being Transgender Was Simply for the Enjoyment of Someone Else”: Fetishization and Sexualization of Transgender and Non-binary Individuals, the writers got 142 transgender-identified people and the majority agreed it “was a negative experience with sexual objectification.” How does it tie in with using the term “femboy”? Transgender women specifically are referred to as “femboys” usually to describe them in a sexual manor, or in pornography. Individuals who fetishize transgender women often need to use this term in pornography. The

- only time femboy can be reclaimed as a label is mostly when a transgender woman needs to use the label for sex work.

Relational fetishization is much more different than fetishization on social media when it comes to how it impacts an individual. When an individual experiences fetishization, no matter the gender, it downplays the individual and their body. This increases levels of anxiety and depression. When doing this to a person, it makes them feel worthless and leads them to believe they could possibly be nothing more than a sex toy. Relational support usually lowers psychological distress, while the fetishization may worsen someone’s mental health.

Transgender men (FTM/NB) are trying to reclaim the term “femboy” and “she-male” as terms to identify how they dress. They are using the term like how it was designed to be currently, which is describing a feminine dressed male or non-binary individuals. Unfortunately it also gives other individuals not only the opportunity to sexualize these individuals, but also feel comfortable in describing others with the same term. Other terms that could be used instead of “femboy” is just “femme”, and“tomgirl”. Femme is for any gender to describe how they would present feminine, tomgirl is usually for boys who behave in a “girly” manor, countering this is “tomboy”.

In all, using the term “femboy” and many other terms does a lot more harm than good when referring to an individual. At least before using the term, you look up its history and original meaning. With this, I hope just to inform people on the misuse of the word and why it shouldn’t be used. Not every transgender individual has the same views as I, but they could very well still be uncomfortable from the usage of these terms.

Stop twisting my words to hear what you want to hear, meaning making me seem like the bad guy when I literally just wrote the history behind the term and why it's iffy to use it. I don't care if you call yourself or your friends a femboy but if you personally describe someone as such without knowing their discomfort of the word, henceforth educate yourself or go offline and log off.

I'm gonna try to water down my pint because my allergies acting up woo -It's not a slur, correct, but the term "Femboy" is going through what the term queer was going through at one point, on and off usage. -The main people who use the term "Femboy" in a fetishizing way is cisgender men, my argument is for trans people to not use the term around cis people, so cis people don't use it. Also my argument is saying not everyone wants to be called a femboy. -I did a counter claim argument using the side of the trans masc community who'd like to use it as a term. I'm glad you're more civil than those of which who are vague posting or throwing my words into a blender to hear what they want to hear. <:]
