i thought i knew the furry community. sure there were some shitty and just, bad people in the community. but that video showed me part of the fandom i never knew existed.
just knowing some of those people exist. even if it's not all of the community, just a part of it, makes me want to leave. so, that's what im doing.
it's so much more toxic than i thought. there's this whole "cult" that will straight up lie, cheat, edit pictures and stalk you to find the slightest bit of the tiniest, barely offensive thing and turn it into something so bad that it drives them off the internet, or sometimes TO THEIR GRAVES. then they will, no joke, actively celebrate your death. it's that bad.
im not even gonna talk about the sexual side other than this. older men are luring children into sex, along with raping animals and sometimes even ROADKILL.
i don't want anything to do with these people. i will literally never look at an animal, fursuit or the term furry the same way again.

I use the term "furry" for basically anyone who likes anthropomorphic animals. It's not like you need to be super involved in the community, especially the creepy side.
Also I'm not watching a half hour long video, but I get the jist of it, pedophiles, creepy people in general, animal ****ing, the bad shit.

It's not like a care if you want to label yourself as a furry or not. It's just that it's not like the entire fandom is trash because of SOME people. I don't **** kids or my dog or fantasize about it, but I'd still consider myself a "furry".
The fandom already gets a lot of hate, but the fandom is a lot of people, and can't really be addressed as a single object. It's lot of individuals. It's like saying all Mexicans transport drugs into America.
true, but many people only see the bad in the fandom. they acknowledge the good, yes, but they blow the bad count way out of proportion to make it seem like everything's to hate about it. and if that's the case, then i don't wanna be labeled as one of those people just because im a furry.

okay, but people don't see people the same way they see furries. people, no matter how many murders or wars go on, will still believe there's good in people, because, well, they're a human themselves and are there to experience it. with furries, it's different. most if not all people who hate them obviously have never been in the fandom, therefore they don't know the good in it because they've never experienced it.
Okay, but in the end those who are still left in the community stay because they don’t care about how other people think. Think about the natzis. German people now shouldn’t worry about what other people think because it happened a long time ago. Fully aware that this is still happening, The fandom as whole isn’t bad and it’s the others fault for thinking everyone else is toxic. And even so, that side of the “fandom” isn’t even considered apart of it. It’s not even close, and what they are doing is considered crime. Not everyone is bad.

the toxic part of the community is actually huge. it could be up to a third or more. like i said before, they'll actively celebrate your death. i don't wanna be associated with those people.
also, there's people spreading stds at cons. again, i want no part of that.
