Because it was made of a strong metal (can think of it off the top of my head) and they had a lot of life boats. And it was a huge luxury boat back then. Today it would look like scrap to us.

Yes I can tell you for sure it was an Iceberg. But the main reason was that there ship has 16 compartments. 4 of those compartments could be flooded with the ship still floating. But the first two compartments in the front were higher up in the rest. So the people thought it could only hit something in the front, not the side. So when it got the side it filled up the third compartment, thus, sinking the ship. Does that make sense?

Wasn't the Titanic ACTUALLY another boat that was broken down called the Olympic? Since the people who made the Titanic and the Olympic just switched boat names. Everyone who died really went on the Olympic instead of the Titanic.
